What is remote online notarizations ("RON")?
With remote notarization, a signer personally appears before the Notary at the time of the notarization using audio-visual technology over the internet instead of being physically present in the same room. Remote online notarization is also called webcam notarization, online notarization or virtual notarization.
What are RON Requirements?
· Are you 18 years of age or older?
· Do you have a social security number?
· Do you have a US driver’s license, state ID or Passport?
· Do you have at least five (5) years of US credit history?
· Are you a US Citizen? YOU MUST BE A US CITIZEN.
· Do you have a mobile phone number with texting capabilities?
What do you need to have your document(s) notarized remotely?
· Desk top and/or Laptop
· High Internet Connection
· Webcam
· Firefox or Chrome Browsers on Windows
· The latest Safari on lates MAC OS
· Chrome on Android
RON will NOT work without the correct browser respective to device being used.
What are RON steps to document notarization?
Step 1: The signer must be physically present via audio/visual and of sound mind.
Step 2: Signer must be able to directly communicate with Notary. CANNOT be guided by middle person (translator or other).
Step 3: Your identity will be verified through a third-party provider once you join the RON session.
Step 4: Signers must present acceptable, unexpired identification (types noted above).
Step 5: Complete the document to be notarized in its entirety before uploading. There should be no blanks in the document. DO NOT SIGN THE DOCUMENT.
Step 6: Join the RON Platform and meet with your notary to notarize your document.
Step 7: The notarization is completed, the session ends, payment is made, notarized document is sent to you.
